Get-Together for Forum Members?

Postby Miss Kenni » Wed Jan 20, 2010 4:56 pm

I hope to be in Belize for the month of March (it's a bit tentative at the moment, but I'm forging ahead with the plans anyway). There are many of you I haven't met in person yet, something I'd like to rectify. Any interest in a gathering, either at my place or maybe at Aguada? Kenni

Yeaaaa......once again, the agonal heart beat has thumped.

I was logging on hoping to see some activity. I am glad to hear that you are working on a trip to Belize. Instead of "hoping" to make it in March :fro: , we decided to just say that we will make it in Nov 2010 FOR SURE! I would have loved to have been able to meet you. Have a great trip....Anita

Hey...This is Kurt. I retire in 2/26/10 from drivin a school bus here. It's been a plan of ours since '02 I think(?) on our 25th wedding anniversary we went to Bz & fell in love w/country/people/etc...Been there many times since...
I'm gonna go down there again in early March I hope or maybe a little after. We just had our 34th anniversary :sword: :luv2: :craz: :hsheep: :hsheep: :hsheep:

It was my intention to try to meet some of the people I've been corresponding with on this board & others so they can think I'm weird in person as well as through posts. Funny thing--we've never been to the Placencia peninsula, although nearby in Mango Cr., PG, etc...thought that might be interesting even though I hear it's gotten kinda weird in the last few yrs...Love PG...

We'll probably goto Cayo & touch bases & Copper Bonk then who knows? Never been to Belmopon either. Gonna play it by ear I think...

You know.....I really do have to plan my adventures a little better. I have been told that I am a little Psycho in planning our vacations. They are ACTION PACKED!! However, in my defense there is so much to see and do in Belize, and so little time to do it.

Yes my friend, I will plan a longer visit. Hope to see you in Nov 2010. Come the first of May, I'm placing that VACATION request, before anyone else does. (We can do it 6 month in advance).

I should get it. There was no excuse for me not to get it last Nov. Except that our last manager was on a power trip. Otherwise, if it get declined again, I think everyone knows I may leave. I don't think the administrators and staff want that. So I should get it.

OK, I got approval from the bosses, so my March trip is ON. One possibility for a get-together, at least for the early risers amongst us: you're all welcome to watch the Ruta Maya from my place. The view from there is not quite as exciting as the "kickoff," but our rapids did make for some funny spills last year. If you park on the Sta. Elena side and don't get stuck, you can even watch the kickoff and then high-tail it to my place in time to see them go by there. Kenni

Congrats on the approval. What an opportunity to watch the Ruta May challenge. I have wanted to do that.

I'm biting at the bit, in hopes of getting my vacation request placed first thing on April 30th.

hang in there Anita, your vacation will materialize, and hopefully... just exactly the time you want it

Kenni, we'll be there... but farmlife being what it is, perhaps a reminder is in store.

yeah, call me when you get here, and call me again the day before the Ruta Maya... I'm half braindead.

Well it looks as though my plan of going in early March isn't going to materialize due to our current financial situation, and Deb's mother's (87) major health difficulties requires our presence for who knows how long. :fro: Oh well family comes first, I guess, but I can't help but be a little disappointed. This gives me the opportunity to take care of a lot of domestic responsibilities that haven't been possible while I was working, and to better prepared for an inevitable trip down there to pave our way.

Tomorrow is the last day of my employ as a school district employee. 21 yrs :klap: seems to have gone by pretty quick. I'm enjoying a sip or two of Crown Royal as I write--a nice going away gift from my co-workers along with 10 rounds of golf at a local course here. I really had planned to slip out unnoticed, but I was taken by surprise with pies, ice cream, balloons, goofy hats, costumes, & etc. Even the school super showed up, my wife and family members, and found myself having to get filmed, pictured, and make a speech. I was touched, & certainly didn't expect it. It seems other people think more of me than I thought, but I've been told I'm pretty dense that way. Anyway it was nice, & I'm grateful for having been put up with, and for the retirement & pension $$. I will miss the kindergarten kids the most, as they are so cute, funny, & still innocent. I'm glad we didn't have a daughter, cause I would've been wrapped around her finger big time.

Sorry for being off topic. :offt: I'd like to see one of the Ruta Maya races. Hope you guys have fun. Later,

Kurt

:klap: Happy Retirement :chil:

Glad to hear you went out in style. It's unfortunate to hear of your current state of events. Best wishes to you. Have a drink for me.

My MIL will be retiring this year. She was with the school district for over 30 years. She feels that there will be a time of mourning because of not being able to be around the kids. She is an Elementary School Principal.

Ooops, off to Fruit Fizzy's talent show. He's gonna sport his Tae Kwon Do moves.

well... Kurt's got his "Honey-Do" list, and Anita's got her talent show...

me, I'm just wondering when the midnight vigil begins for the pregnant goats.

honestly, I can't TELL how far along they are...

Kurt, congratulations on the long-deserved retirement, and I hope Deb's mom is comfortable, and things improve.

we look forward to meeting you whenever you get here...
